The Cow Palace in Daly City, Calif. got its name after the 1915 Pan-Pacific International Exposition’s livestock exhibit proved popular. Business leaders wanted to build a permanent structure to host livestock expositions.
The facility, which is owned and operated by the California Department of Agriculture, opened in 1941. The first event held there was the Western Classic Holstein Show.
The palace can hold between 12,000 and 16,000 people depending on the event.
