The U.S. government released a US$2.2-trillion stimulus package for its citizens and economy to manage the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

As part of the government spending, the USDA will receive up to US$14 billion to replenish the Commodity Credit Corporation, which buys, sells and makes payments to assist American farmers.

The USDA will also receive about US$9.5 billion in emergency aid for the ag industry.

The U.S. had 68,594 cases of COVID-19 and 1,036 deaths as of March 26, 2020.
