Governor General Roland Michener’s throne speech on May 8, 1967 opened the second session of Canada’s 27th Parliament. Lester Pearson served as prime minister.
The government said it would create a special task force under the federal ag department.
The force’s responsibilities would include “projecting agricultural goals for the future and recommending policies to meet those goals,” Michener said.
