Video: Moving newly weaned piglets using low-stress handling techniques

Hog farmer Lucas, from the RM of De Salaberry, took this footage of newly weaned piglets (about three to four weeks old) being moved from a farrowing room to a nursery room. The video shows a great animal handler who knows how to move his pigs using low-stress handling techniques. Notice how calm the pigs are as they move into the nursery room. The nursery has been warmed to the piglets’ preferred temperature and supplied with fresh feed and water optimized for piglet health.
