Video: Fungicide Applications: When You Should Spray Your Corn

In this video, Pioneer Field Agronomist Paul Yoder provides advice on when you should consider a fungicide application for your corn. In fields with good stand and emergence, fields will benefit the most from a fungicide to increase standability during harvest. Multiple on-farm trials have shown spraying a fungicide has resulted in more than an 8 bu/A increase in corn yields, giving farmers good ROI on their fungicide investment. Applying a fungicide during VT is the optimal time to increase standability during harvest. Waiting until silking will not give corn as much of a benefit. Protecting the ear leaf is the most important factor in determining yield and test weight for corn, so applying a fungicide at the right time to ensure that leaf is protected is vital.
