Soil microbiomes (diverse networks of small insects, bacteria and fungi) are critical components of healthily resilient soil. Using molecular tools, such as high-throughput sequencing, we can now measure how management practices alter this microbiome and how these changes impact long-term soil health. This presentation discusses how common Ontario farming practices such as rotation, nitrification inhibitors and biomass removal affect soil microbiome networks.
