Definitiv!: Chip-Ident: Identification Of Boar As If By Magic

The EDP-System ‚Chip-Ident‘ makes automatic identification of boar and bar code labeling of sperm units easy. It is made to accelerate and optimize the working processes of AI-Stations. The system is based on electronic identification (EID) with both - bar code ear tag and electronic transponder. Further parts of the system are a hand held reader and a label printer, which are connected via WLAN.

From sperm production to insemination: Boar identified clearly
To unambiguously identify the boar who gives the sperm for the insemination its earmark has to be read out with the reader during the process. Subsequent further information like e.g. body temperature can be entered. Afterwards the production label can be printed. The label has a bar code and the additional information on it. That way the labeled ejculate can be clearly assigned to the relevant boar in the laboratory and the additional information can be entered in the EDP. The sperm unit label generated in the laboratory ensures the continuous assignment in the further progress. This label can aswell be marked with a bar code and additional information like the best before date.

Animal in motion: Changes in barn easily documented
An additional program modul enables to collect changes in livestock where they happen – in the barn. Every boar compartment is unambiguous marked by a chip. After reading the compartment-chip, the ear tag of the boar is read out. That is how compartment and boar are assigned to one another. Finally the collected data is transferred to the centralised data base via WLAN.
