By George Silva, Michigan State University Extension

The Integrated Crop and Pest Management Update will feature MSU field crop experts, 2015 crop and pest management recommendations and pesticide certification credits.

The Michigan State University Extension field crops team along with Eaton County MSU Extension will host the 2014 Integrated Crop and Pest Management Update on Dec. 16, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the MSU Pavilion for Agriculture and Livestock Education (4301 Farm Lane, East Lansing, MI 48824). Participants will receive MSU Extension’s 2015 recommendations for potential pest problems, fertilizer practices, weed control and emerging issues. This program is intended for agribusiness, retail sales and service professionals, private crop consultants and farmers. Out of state participants are invited to attend.

A major objective of this event is to offer the Michigan agribusiness industry with 2015 pesticide, seed and fertilizer recommendations in a timely fashion so they can make year-end bulk purchasing and sales decisions based on demand, availability and tax implications. It will provide a jumpstart for the 2015 season. The field crop industry is facing many production and marketing challenges associated with late planting, volatile commodity prices, rising input costs, rapidly evolving technologies and potential new pests. The agenda includes a review of the 2014 growing season in the context of weather posed challenges and provide updates on insect and weed resistance, soil fertility and the 2015 Weed Control Guide.

Participants will receive five MDARD credits (Com. Core, Priv. Core, 1A), seven CCA credits (1NM, 1SW, 3.0PM, 2.0CM) and MAEAP phase 1 credits for this session.

Online registration using a credit card is available. You can also download a brochure for mail-in check registration.
