Wheat growers will learn about nutrient management, weed and disease control and wheat breeding at the 2015 Wheat Field Day on the MSU campus.
A Wheat Field Day is being planned for Wednesday, June 17, 2015, on the Michigan State University campus. This is the third year the Michigan Wheat Program, with the cooperation of Michigan State University Extension, has offered this half-day event. This year the event will take place on the south end of campus, 3735 N. College Rd, East Lansing, MI 48910, and will run from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
The morning will feature wagon stops where MSU specialists will showcase some of their current field research. The topics will include nutrient management, weed and disease control and wheat breeding.
Immediately following lunch, briefs will discuss crop insurance changes, harvest reminders and market outlook. RUP and CCA credits are being offered.
There is no registration fee to attend the field day thanks to the support of the Wheat Check-Off Program, Michigan Crop Improvement Association and MSU. However, to ensure an accurate count for lunch, wagon space and handout materials, folks are asked to RSVP online by 5 p.m. on June 11, or by calling 1-888-WHEAT01 (888-943-2801). Those needing special accommodations need to contact the Michigan Wheat Program prior to the event so arrangements can be made.
