BASF launches new L355PC canola hybrid

This hybrid is ideal for mid-to-long growing zones

BASF is bringing a new canola hybrid, L355PC, to Western Canadian farmers for the 2026 growing season.

“The new hybrid is going to be a great fit for growers in the mid-to-long growing zones of Western Canada,” Mark Alberts, InVigor senior brand manager, told Farms.com.

The hybrid is ideal for areas where farmers may get summer rains and let the hybrid fill out to reach its full potential, he added.

L355PC features the most advanced disease resistance package in the InVigor lineup.

This includes blackleg resistance, first-generation clubroot resistance, and a strong verticillium stripe performance ranking.

“The nice part about it is that it doesn’t sacrifice yield of other traits like our patented pod shatter technology,” Alberts said.

The new hybrid performed in BASF’s Agronomic Excellence Trials in 2024.

Those trials come after the breeding program and before other farmers and retailers can access the hybrid.

“It was the third highest yielding hybrid across our entire lineup and beat all our competitors in the trials,” Alberts said. “We’re really excited to see what it’ll look like coming out of the demonstration plots this season.”

Data from BASF showed L355PC achieved a yield of 51.2 bushels per acre. That’s 2.5 bushels per acre more than the top performing competitor hybrid.
