USDA Crop Progress Report Released.

The USDA Released the weekly Crop Progress report which showed farmers had a good week of corn planting in the key corn growing regions.

Some the report highlights include:

Corn planting was a still little bit behind the five year average last week due to wet, cool weather in some key growing areas.

As of Sunday, 73% of corn is planted, compared to 65% a year ago and the five year average of 76%, with a handful of prime production states continuing to really show the impact of a late start to planting. Emergence was also hampered by weather. 34% has emerged, ahead of the 17% last year, but behind the average of 42%.

33% of soybeans are planted, compared to 21% a year ago and 38% on average, wth 9% emerged, compared to 3% last year and 11% on average.

57% of winter wheat has headed, compared to 41% a year ago and 58% on average. 29% of the crop is rated good to excellent, down another 1% on the week, with 44% called poor to very poor, up 2%.

49% of spring wheat is planted, compared to 64% a year ago and 68% on average, with 24% emerged, compared to 20% last year and 40% on average.

44% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape, a 3% week to week increase.
