US Crop Progress: 17% Of Corn Planted.

USDA Released the latest Crop Progress Report:

USDA’s weekly national crop progress report shows a generally good week for planting corn.

As of Sunday, 17% of corn is planted, up 10% on the week and 12% ahead of both last year and the five year average pace. Overall, Tennessee is the furthest along at 80% while Illinois leads Midwestern states at 41%.

29% of the winter wheat crop has headed, compared to 11% a year ago and 8% on average with 64% of the crop in good to excellent condition, up 3% from last week and 28% more than this time last year.

37% of spring wheat is planted, compared to 21% a week ago, 5% a year ago and 9% on average. 10% of spring wheat has emerged, 9% above both last year and the five year average.

The next set of national crop progress numbers are out Monday, April 23 at 3 PM Central.
