Hard Red Winter Wheat Sees 2% Increase

Winter wheat production in the United States is forecasted to reach 1.38 billion bushels, a 2 percent increase from 2024.

As of May 1, the yield is expected to be 53.7 bushels per acre, up 2.0 bushels from last year's average of 51.7 bushels per acre. The area anticipated for grain or seed harvest totals 25.7 million acres, a 1 percent decrease from last year.

Hard Red Winter wheat production is projected at 784 million bushels, up 2 percent from the previous year. Soft Red Winter wheat is forecasted at 345 million bushels, a 1 percent increase from 2024.

White Winter wheat production is expected to be 253 million bushels, up 7 percent from last year. Of this, 20.6 million bushels are Hard White and 232 million bushels are Soft White.

The forecast for all oranges in the United States for the 2024-2025 season is 2.46 million tons, slightly up from the previous forecast but down 8 percent from the 2023-2024 utilization.

In Florida, the all orange forecast is 11.6 million boxes (523,000 tons), up less than 1 percent from the previous forecast but down 36 percent from last season's utilization.

Early, midseason, and Navel varieties in Florida are forecasted at 4.58 million boxes (206,000 tons), down less than 1 percent from the previous forecast but down 32 percent from last season's final utilization.

The Florida Valencia orange forecast is 7.05 million boxes (317,000 tons), up 1 percent from the previous forecast but down 38 percent from last season's utilization.
