The farm organization Team Alberta Crops has released a list of election priorities it hopes the government that forms after the May 29 election will work on.
That includes improving market access by removing trade barriers, working with other governments to make sure Business Risk Management programs remain effective, and calling on the Alberta government to put money into research, extension and training and education related to agriculture.
The half-dozen items on the list also include recognizing regional and crop-specific practices and financial incentives that would reduce environmental impact and working with the federal government and other provinces to rebuild bee colonies.
Team Alberta Crops includes Alberta Barley, the Alberta Beekeepers Commission, Alberta Canola, Alberta Pulse Growers, Alberta-British Columbia Seed Growers, Alberta Sugar Beet Growers, the Alberta Wheat Commission, and the Potato Growers of Alberta.
