The World Organisation for Animal Health has confirmed Taiwan’s first case of African swine fever. Samples were sent to the National Reference Laboratory for diagnosis on Oct. 21 for increased mortality rates. By Oct. 25, the outbreak was confirmed as ASF.
All control measures have been implemented since the outbreak, and 195 pigs have been culled thus far. The affected farm, located in the coastal city of Taichung, was home to over 300 pigs.
