Syngenta Reminds Eastern Corn Belt growers That Hybrid Diversification Will Be Key To 2016 Success

Feb 19, 2016
  • Selecting a range of hybrids allows growers to maximize results regardless of next season’s weather
  • Syngenta offers a broad portfolio of Golden Harvest® Corn hybrids tailored to a range of conditions and field types

With a seesaw of weeks-long wet and dry spells affecting Indiana, Ohio and Michigan in 2015, growers who diversified their corn hybrids gave themselves the best shot at success. Syngenta agronomists in the region are recommending that all growers take this approach in 2016 so they can maximize their yields no matter what Mother Nature brings.

With a broad portfolio of Golden Harvest® Corn hybrids tailored to different environments, soil types and growing conditions, Syngenta offers a range of options to help growers succeed.

“You just don’t know what the weather will do, which is why you don’t want to put all your eggs in one basket,” said Eric Anderson, product development agronomist at Syngenta. “Planting a range of diverse corn hybrids allows growers to set themselves up for the best overall results possible, regardless of whether conditions end up mild or extreme, wet or dry.”

A number of Golden Harvest Corn hybrids excelled in recent years in the area. Some of the key hybrids that growers should consider are:

  • G07F23-3111 brand: With the Agrisure Viptera® trait stack, G07F23-3111 brand provides the industry’s best protection from above- and below-ground insects to deliver high-quality grain.
  • G10S30-3220: With great response to higher levels of management, G10S30-3220 brand has strong yield potential and fast drydown. This hybrid also includes the Agrisure Viptera trait for above-ground insect protection.
  • G14R38-3000GT: Notable for its stalk integrity, G14R38-3000GT brand is a great choice for continuous corn acres and also includes the Agrisure® 3000GT trait stack.
“With Golden Harvest Corn, we aim to help growers achieve high yields by placing hybrids matched to their fields,” said Tim O’Brien, Ph.D., Golden Harvest Corn product manager at Syngenta. “By using a unique pool of corn genetics – and adding breakthrough traits and technologies – the diverse Syngenta portfolio of hybrids provides growers options to unleash the potential of each field and finish with strong yields year in and year out.”
