St. Jean Farm Days Kicks Off 2020 Crop Year

Jan 08, 2020
The 2020 farm show season is underway.

The 35th Annual St. Jean Farm Days is taking place Wednesday and Thursday at the St. Jean Centennial Hall.

"The main theme this year that a lot of the discussion centres around is 'how are we going to get all the fertilizer down this spring?'", said organizer Brunel Sabourin. "Last fall being so wet...there will be a strain on the system I think with the amount of fertilizer that has to move out to the farm and then onto the field."

Sabourin says most farmers are hoping to forget last year.

"Right now I think they're glad that last year is over. It could be an interesting spring depending on what kind of weather we get. I think they took the holidays off and now they are just getting back into starting to think about the farm and what we're going to do for next spring. There's equipment decisions that need to be made. There's logistics and how we're going to get all this fertilizer down."

Each day will also feature a weather and market outlook. A 35-year anniversary reception is taking place following the program on Wednesday.
