Seeding Advances Rapidly across Saskatchewan

Seeding progress across Saskatchewan is advancing rapidly due to recent warm, dry weather.
 
Seeding is 35 per-cent complete across Saskatchewan, compared to 15 per-cent last week.
 
Seeding is most advanced in the southwest at 58 per-cent, followed by the southeast at 51 per-cent.
 
Planting is 26 per-cent in in the west-central region, 23 per-cent in the northeast, 21 per-cent in the northwest and 17 per-cent in east-central Saskatchewan.
 
Topsoil moisture is rated two per-cent surplus, 74 per-cent adequate, 21 per-cent short and three per-cent very short.
 
Significant rain this week will help alleviate concerns in many areas about drop topsoil moisture.
 
Provincial crops analyst Shannon Friesen says the rainfall ranged from a few millimeters in the northwest to four inches or 100 millimeters north of Moose Jaw in the Tugaske-Eyebrow region.
