Seeding across Saskatchewan reaches 70 percent complete

The latest crop report says Saskatchewan farmers made great seeding progress during the past week.
 
Seeding is 70 percent complete, up from 35 percent last week and well ahead of the five year average of 55 percent for this time of year.
 
Seeding ranges from 82 percent in the southeast to 53 percent in the east-central region.
 
Rainfall was reported in some areas, ranging from a trace to 28 millimeters in the Biggar area, about 350 kilometers northwest of Regina.
 
The crop report says the majority of the province is in need of rain to replenish topsoil moisture.
 
Topsoil moisture conditions are rated 47 percent adequate, 39 percent adequate, 46 percent short and 23 percent very short.
 
Crops are mostly in good condition despite damage from strong winds and lack of moisture.
 
Pastures are rated 22 percent good, 40 percent fair, 28 percent poor and 10 percent very poor.
