Rollins Inspects Biosecurity and Hosts Key Discussion

In a move to address the ongoing avian influenza crisis, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins visited Texas to meet with key stakeholders in the poultry industry. Her visit included a tour of the Cal-Maine Foods egg-laying facility in Bogata, showcasing the robust biosecurity measures in place to protect poultry from the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).

“The Biden administration failed to lead on avian flu, and families across America are paying the price. President Trump understands the importance of addressing this issue head on, and USDA is taking action to support farmers, strengthen supply chains, and bring egg prices down,” said Secretary Rollins during her visit.

Following the facility tour, Secretary Rollins hosted a farmer roundtable in Mount Pleasant, focusing on the avian flu's impact and discussing proactive strategies to mitigate the disease.

The roundtable served as a platform for farmers, veterinarians, and industry leaders to voice their concerns and collaborate on effective response strategies.

Secretary Rollins' visit underscores the USDA’s commitment to tackling the avian flu crisis head-on, with a focus on supporting the agricultural sector and stabilizing egg prices amid challenging times. Her engagements in Texas highlight the government's proactive steps in strengthening the agricultural supply chain and ensuring food security.
