Farmers Discuss Avian Flu, Egg Prices, And Rural Prosperity

Secretary Brooke Rollins recently hosted a roundtable discussion with farmers from seven states to address avian flu, its impact on egg prices, and other major agricultural concerns. The meeting provided a platform for farmers to voice their challenges and explore solutions for industry-wide improvements.

Addressing Avian Flu and Egg Prices

Avian flu has significantly affected poultry farms, leading to high egg prices and economic strain on farmers. Secretary Rollins emphasized the government's commitment to assisting farmers in combating outbreaks and stabilizing prices. “We will take aggressive action to help our poultry farmers combat avian flu and to make eggs affordable again,” she stated.

Key Farming Concerns

Alongside avian flu, participants discussed essential farming challenges, including disaster relief, expanding markets, lowering input costs, and improving access to capital for young farmers. Rollins assured attendees that she would work to address these issues and support rural economies.

A Commitment to Farmers

Farmers representing dairy, beef, poultry, and row crops from Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Iowa, Arkansas, and West Virginia shared their experiences.

Secretary Rollins reaffirmed her commitment to honoring financial promises made to farmers, ensuring they receive the necessary support to sustain their operations.

The meeting highlighted the ongoing efforts to strengthen U.S. agriculture and provide farmers with the tools they need to succeed.
