The chair of the Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s association is hoping for a successful conclusion to the NAFTA trade talks.

Round 6 discussions open in Montreal this week with the U.S. pushing for concessions from both Canada and Mexico.

Cattlemen’s chair Ryan Beierbach, said open trade has benefited farmers in all three countries.

“There’s some value for the beef industry in keeping NAFTA for sure,” Beierbach said.

“We’d sure like to see it stay in place and I know that our counterparts in the U.S. are pushing pretty hard cause they see the importance of it as well, so we’re hoping that will continue forward,” Beierbach added.
