The Saskatchewan government has appointed a new Farmland Ownership Advisory Committee to gather stakeholder feedback and recommend updates aimed at strengthening the province’s farmland ownership legislation.
Agriculture Minister Daryl Harrison said in a release Monday the committee will consult with key industry stakeholders through October and November before submitting a summary of feedback to the provincial government for review.
“Our government wants to ensure that legislation meets the needs of Saskatchewan farmland owners,” Harrison said. “This committee’s work will help inform the decisions we make regarding farmland ownership in our province.”
The three-member committee will include Ken McDonald as chairperson, alongside Deron Kuski and Curt Chickoski.
