A Russian government agency has forecast record wheat production for the country this growing season.
G-3 Canada weather and crop specialist Bruce Burnett says growing conditions in Russia have certainly been good thus far, although he thinks this record projection is a little optimistic.
"About a third of the crop in Russia is spring wheat although they plotted the crops in reasonable good moisture conditions, here there's a long way until those crops will be harvested."
Burnett notes the strong growing conditions in places like Russia and Ukraine have put price pressure on the world wheat markets recently.
