Alberta Farm Animal Care describes the Communications Award as one which honours those who take an active role in effectively telling the story about livestock issues, and informing the public and agri-food industry about farm animal care in a factual and honest way that is credible and builds trust.
The Industry Leadership Award recognizes those who integrate animal welfare into their core business strategy, striving to achieve more than expected regarding animal welfare and setting a higher standard.
Finally, the Innovation Award is for people who've developed a new process, product, or source of knowledge that has made a significant impact on improving the welfare of livestock and the industry.
Hall says, they've only received one nomination so far, and they'd like to see more.
Nominations are in letter format answering why you people the person or organization deserves to win the award.
The nomination deadline is Friday, February 15 and can be emailed to Kristen Hall at kristen@afac.ab.ca.
Award recipients will be informed on or before March 1, 2019 and will invite be invited to receive the award at the Livestock Care Conference on March 21 in Olds.
