Range, Pasture program Set For July 6 In Brown County

Cattle insect pests and range management to highlight Brown County range, pasture program set for July 6.

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a range and pasture management program beginning at 5 p.m. July 6 at the Brown County Fairgrounds, 4206 U.S. Highway 377 South in Brownwood.

“This program will be all about controlling noxious vegetation with a little bit of cattle pest control thrown in and salted with a healthy helping of Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units,” said Scott Anderson, AgriLife Extension agent in Brown County. “So if you have questions concerning weed and brush control, don’t miss this opportunity to learn more as all these speakers are highly regarded in their area of expertise.”

Topics and speakers will include:

– Common Mistakes with Herbicides, Dr. Allan McGinty, Bayer CropScience, San Angelo.

– Cattle Insect Pest Management, Dr. Charles Allen, AgriLife Extension entomologist, San Angelo.

– Weed and Brush Herbicides, Ralph Porter, Dow AgroSciences, Abilene.

– Toxic Plants in Our Area, Dr. Morgan Russell, AgriLife Extension range specialist, San Angelo.

– Application/Timing of Brush Herbicides, James Jackson, AgriLife Extension range management program specialist, Stephenville.
