Agriculture minister Lyle Stewart sees pluses and minuses from this week’s rain.
Stewart says the rain will replenish depleted soil moisture reserves across the south.
But he says it will delay harvest and points out the central and northern grainbelt has excess moisture.
Stewart says the moisture will help germination for fall planted crops.
“For sure, they’ll germinate at least,” Stewart told. “So hopefully come up this fall. But in the south, it’s more positive than negative.”
