A Saskatchewan grain broker says pulse crops are showing some price improvement this summer.
Allan Johnston with Johnston’s Grain Marketing says excess summer moisture has taken a toll on pulses and prices are showing some improvement.
He says red lentils are a little stronger with prices in the 29 to 33 cent a pound range, depending on time of movement.
He says Yellow peas are running around 7 dollars 50 cents a bushel.
Canaryseed is soft, in the 22 cent a pound a range.
Flax is running around 12 dollars a bushel.
Canola is running over 9 dollars a bushel.
He says one farmer wants ten dollars but he can’t seem to get it, even though the price seems reasonable.
Johnston says there is a glut of grain on the world market.
He says feed wheat is softer, trading around 4 dollars or 4.25 a bushel, down a dollar a bushel in the past month.
He says U.S. markets are also softer.
He had a bid of 2.80 a bushel for feed barley.
Oats are weaker, one bid he received was 2.10 to 2.30 a bushel range.
He says that is down 30 to 40 cents in recent weeks.
Soybeans are around 10.50 to 11 dollars a bushel.
He expects a flood of grain following harvest with varying levels of quality.
