Protecting Hay From The Elements

Adequate moisture conditions in most of the province have resulted in larger than normal yields and bigger stacks and rows of hay bales. Barry Yaremcio, beef and forage specialist at the Ag-Info Centre, says if the winter is normal and cow numbers remain static, there could be a large surplus of hay carried over into next summer and fed over the winter. I spoke with Barry to find out what producers need to consider and what losses they can expect if they leave their hay unprotected from the elements.
