Harrison and MacAulay Attend National Association of State Departments of Agriculture 2025 Winter Policy Conference

Premier Scott Moe is currently leading an important trade delegation to Washington, D.C., joined by several Saskatchewan businesses and organizations. The primary goal of this mission is to emphasize the strength and mutual benefits of an integrated Canada-U.S. economy and address recent tariff concerns.

"Saskatchewan companies play a critical role in North American food and energy security," said Moe. "I am returning to Washington to continue our efforts in de-escalating the threat of potential tariffs from, our largest trading partner, the U.S."

"The relationship between our jurisdictions has mutual benefit, and we are working with key stakeholders, industry leaders and government representatives on both sides of the border to build and protect our economies."

The Saskatchewan delegation includes key representatives from prominent companies such as Cameco, Evraz, Arizona Lithium, Cenovus, Whitecap Resources, Enbridge, North American Helium, and the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce. These organizations underline the critical economic partnerships across industries such as energy, mining, agriculture, and trade.

Minister of Agriculture Daryl Harrison also traveled to Washington to participate in the 2025 Winter Policy Conference of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA). The event provides an important platform for discussions among agricultural commissioners, industry leaders, and federal officials on major issues impacting agriculture and food policy.

Also attending the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture 2025 Winter Policy Conference was Canadian Minister of Agriculture Lawrence MacAulay. He spoke about key topics on the U.S.-Canada trade relationship, including agricultural policy developments and the evolving landscape of trade partnerships in a shifting global economy.

The U.S. remains Saskatchewan’s most significant trade partner, with bilateral trade valued around $40 billion annually. The region’s top exports include crude oil, potash, and canola oil, making a substantial contribution to the U.S. economy and providing thousands of jobs across both countries.

The trade mission highlights the necessity of open, tariff-free trade, benefiting communities and businesses in both nations. By showcasing Saskatchewan’s vital economic contributions and advocating policies that encourage cross-border cooperation, this delegation aims to strengthen bilateral relationships and economic security for years to come.
