Livestock producers faced numerous challenges in 2012 and 2013 to provide sufficient forages for their grazing livestock. And as in most summers, hot and dry weather reduce available forage supply. How do livestock producers get the most from pasture and stretch the hay supply?
A program will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Belle Plaine Community Center, 1309 5th Avenue, Belle Plaine, for producers to learn more about these topics and USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) livestock disaster programs.
Denise Schwab, ISU Extension livestock specialist will discuss research-based pasture management practices to extend the grazing season. In addition, Denise will discuss practices to minimize hay and feed losses, and stretch the available feed supply.
