Jake Ridenour of Trimble Agriculture showcased the new WeedSeeker 2 Automatic Spot Spray System. Newly redesigned for superior weed killing, the WeedSeeker 2 uses advanced optics and processing power to detect and spot spray resistant weeds.
“WeedSeeker has been a Trimble product for years,” stated Ridenour. “With some new research and development, we have re-released the product with some new technology built in.”
The system precisely delivers herbicide on the weed, which can reduce chemical application by up to 90 percent.
“The WeedSeeker has a red eye that’s going through the field. As it sees a green plant that goes underneath that eye, the spot spray system sprays that weed – and only that weed – allowing for much less chemical usage as it rolls through the field,” added Ridenour.

We also spoke with Jesse Chisholm, Director of Sales – North America Agriculture, who was eager to discuss the new GFX-350 Display. The display was created for both experienced precision technology users, as well as entry-level users with features like ‘simple mode’, which enables farmers to input simple tasks without the need to learn advanced features and allows them to hit the field right away.
“This is an affordable, entry-level display for a person entering the precision ag market,” explained Chisholm. “But it also has all of the features and functionality for experienced users that want to use more advanced features like input and section control, as well as ISO mechanical controls on planters, spreaders and a variety of farm tillage tools.”
The easy-to-install 7” (17.8 cm) high-definition color touchscreen display runs a PIQ android-based firmware package and provides farmers with autosteering and application control across all brands of farm equipment.
“Out of the box it has the ability for 8” to 12” accuracy at a very affordable price point. You can enhance the unit by upgrading the receiver or by adding any one of the Trimble steering solutions,” added Chisholm. “It also has the ability to be backwards compatible with some of our other steering solutions.”
