NCBA Invites 2024 environmental award entries

Oct 27, 2023

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) has once again opened doors for its prestigious Environmental Stewardship Award Program (ESAP). A tradition since 1991, it recognizes cattle farmers and their commitment to ecological conservation.

The passion of cattle producers in safeguarding the environment resonates with NCBA President Todd Wilkinson’s words, “Our industry's dedication to conserving resources is unwavering. This award is a nod to their pioneering environmental solutions, societal engagements, and economic success."

Anyone, be it an individual or group, can nominate a deserving cattle producer. However, direct self-nominations are off the table. If you've been nominated in the past and didn't clinch the title, you're free to try again.

Each application must be accompanied by a written nomination, bolstered by three letters endorsing the nominee’s commitment to conservation. The final date for submission is March 8, 2024. NCBA membership isn't compulsory, but nominees should resonate with the visions of their respective cattle associations.

Winners, chosen by an expert panel, will be assessed on various ecological and leadership criteria. Regional awardees will be celebrated at Texas's CattleCon25 in February 2025, while the national spotlight will shine in Washington, D.C., come spring 2025. ESAP ensures winners are well-accommodated during these events.

The award, championed by the NCBA, National Cattlemen’s Foundation, and distinguished sponsors, underscores the importance of sustainability in cattle farming. For nominations, NCBA’s official portal holds all the information.
