The Urban Agriculture Special Committee of Pittsburgh created a
guide to explain the benefits of urban agriculture. This committee was formed by the University of Pittsburgh Institute of Politics and the Allegheny County Conservation District.
"The purpose of this guide is to explain the benefits of urban agriculture activities and how to add permissive language to an existing zoning ordinance." While these recommendations are meant for the city of Pittsburgh, they may also be applicable to your city.
Some of the important points from the guide include:
- "An overview of the benefits urban agriculture activities can bring to a community and the individuals who live there.
- Regulations for urban agriculture activities and guidance for incorporating the language into an existing zoning ordinance.
- Additional resources for individuals who wish to practice urban agriculture in a safe and considerate way."
