The Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority (MASBDA) announced it has invested nearly $3.4 million in projects that increase the distribution and use of higher blends of ethanol and biodiesel in the state of Missouri.
Expenses incurred during the construction, installation, upgrade, or retrofit of fuel dispensers/pumps, storage tanks and other infrastructure located in Missouri qualified for partial funding from MASBDA.
“We are pleased to partner with Missouri Soybean and Missouri Corn to increase the availability of biofuels in Missouri,” said MASBDA Executive Director Jill Wood. “These projects will create demand for two of Missouri’s top commodities, which helps growers, while also offering options for consumers.”
The Biodiesel Coalition of Missouri and Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council are pleased with the announcement of funding to further advance biodiesel interests in the state that supports the bottom line of Missouri farmers while providing more fuel options for its residents.
“The biofuels infrastructure funds are critical to providing more access to biodiesel across the state,” said Matt Amick, Executive Director of the Biodiesel Coalition of Missouri. “We are thankful to the MASBDA and the state of Missouri for administering this program to support Missouri-made fuels, Missouri’s biodiesel industry and Missouri’s farmers.”
“Biodiesel is a Missouri-made, renewable fuel that supports Missouri soybean farmers and provides more options for suppliers and fleets,” said Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council Chair Mark Lehenbauer, from Palmyra, Mo. “This program is an important step in our efforts to build new demand and access for biodiesel and growth for our economy in the state.”
Projects receiving funds to increase the availability of biodiesel blends B6 or higher include:
MFA Oil Company, Palmyra
Dhanya & Tashka, LLC, Arnold
TA Operating, LLC, Concordia, Oak Grove
Scotland Co. Missouri County Government, Memphis
SAIA, Inc., St. Peters
Wortman-Fortner, LLC, Washington
Narayan, LLC, Hillsboro
Kalki, LLC, Hillsboro
“We are excited to work with our partners to incentivize additional biofuel retail locations across the state and provide drivers with increased access to homegrown fuels,” said Missouri Corn Growers Association President Matt Lambert, a corn farmer from Laclede, Mo. “Given the 2024 legislative session’s challenges, successfully securing BIIP funding is a testament to the value Missouri agriculture brings to the state’s economy. We’re excited to see this hard work continue to pay off with increased use of biofuels, stronger markets for Missouri farmers and cost-effective options at the pump.”
