Manitoba Pork and its producers are donating $10,000 to the Canadian Red Cross, in support of the Ukraine humanitarian crisis appeal.
Manitoba Pork chair Rick Préjet made the announcement Wednesday night at the 57th annual Manitoba Pork Council Annual General Meeting.
The Canadian Red Cross is actively responding to humanitarian needs in Ukraine, through immediate and ongoing relief efforts.
“The devastation and horror that we see in the images and video coming out of Ukraine calls us to support the Ukrainian people in any way we can,” said Préjet. “Agriculture is the most important industry in Ukraine, just as it is the backbone of the Manitoba economy, and immigrants from Ukraine are a key part of the fabric that makes up our province and our provincial agriculture sector.”
