Thank you to the Wellington Farmers Market and the Memorial Centre Farmers Market in Kingston for having the Ontario Farmland Trust and our friends the Land Conservancy for Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington at your markets earlier in July. We had a blast talking with market goers! Almost 100 passionate folks stopped to chat about the importance of protecting our precious and limited farmland and to learn about the work of land trusts.
With provincial policy changes the past couple years, farmland protection is even more in the minds of local Ontarians. We encourage you to turn that concern into action! Call your MPP, email them, or request a meeting. They need to know the opinions of their local constituents; your concerns for farmland and the environment matter. As recent flooding from large storms has shown, it’s becoming even more crucial to protect the limited agricultural land we have in Ontario.
