Identifying Fusarium In Wheat

Fusarium head blight is a fungal disease of cereal crops that affects kernel development. Fusarium graminearum is well established in southern Alberta and trace amounts are found in central and northern regions. Kelly Turkington, research scientist, plant pathology with Agriculture Canada in Lacombe, says the first step to help limit the impact of this disease is to know whether the disease is present to begin with.
