Harvest Over Three-Quarters Complete In Alberta

Oct 06, 2023

The latest crop report from Alberta agriculture is now suggesting about 80 percent of crops in the province have now been harvested. That's about a 14 percent increase since the last report. While harvesting in some parts of southern Alberta was completed weeks ago, it's also wrapping up in parts of Central Alberta as well. Harvesting of pulse crops and spring cereals are nearing completion, but the cool nights and recent rain is slowing the harvest when it comes to canola.

Those dry conditions, ideal for harvesting are also starting to impact overall soil moisture. The report says the situation in central and northern regions of the province is still not bad, but in areas of Southern Alberta, soil moisture conditions are getting worse.
