Flea Beetles Create Havoc In Windy Conditions

Jun 01, 2017

An agronomist with the Canola Council of Canada says now is the time to be extra diligent when scouting.

Angela Brackenreed says flea beetles are a big concern right now.

"Flea beetles can do a lot of damage in a hurry, and with this really windy weather we've been having, they tend to go underneath the cotyledons and start feeding on the stems...it only takes a couple of bites to be economical."

Brackenreed notes it's also important to look for bare patches, as cutworms may be the culprit.
