FCC Ignite fuels excitement among youth

Oct 17, 2018

Farm Credit Canada (FCC) will ignite passion and enthusiasm for Canadian agriculture among young people through a series of events that explore the industry’s present and future possibilities.

“Agriculture is a dynamic and growing industry that holds so much potential now and into the future,” said Michael Hoffort, FCC president and CEO, in announcing a series of 11 free events across Canada aimed at attracting and engaging the next generation of farmers, agri-food and agribusiness entrepreneurs. “There is a wide variety of career possibilities in Canada's agriculture and agri-food industry and the future has never looked brighter for anyone who is interested in venturing down that path and for those already in the industry realizing their dreams.”

Ignite, the FCC Young Farmer Summit is for people under age 40 who are either working in the industry or pursuing a career in agriculture through education. Ignite is a forum for outstanding speakers to share their knowledge and common love for the industry. It’s an opportunity for young people to connect, become inspired and exposed to new perspectives in agriculture.

In the coming months, FCC Ignite will feature presentations from: Dr. Tom Deans, intergenerational wealth expert; Tonia Jahshan, founder and president of Steeped Tea Inc.; Stuart Knight, entrepreneur, author and producer; Jean-François Ménard, mental performance coach and speaker; Ramona Pringle, assistant professor at RTA School of Media, educator and researcher; and Dr. Georges Sabongui, psychologist and stress expert, inspirational speaker and author.
