The Prairie Retail Icon Returns with Big Plans

For many, Peavey Mart, is a name synonymous with rural retail in Western Canada. As previously reported by Farms.com (read the article Is Peavey Mart Making a Comeback?), the new ownership group that acquired the Peavey Mart name and intellectual property from the now-defunct Peavey Industries LP in April 2025 is preparing to open more than four stores this fall in Alberta.

The confirmed locations—Spruce Grove, Westlock, Camrose, and Lacombe—mark the beginning of a broader strategy. According to the company’s website, the group aims to open between 7 and 12 stores across the region, including a return to markets in Saskatchewan where Peavey Mart once had a strong presence.

To support this ambitious rollout, the company has secured a 40,000-square-foot distribution facility in Red Deer County. This hub will serve as the backbone for logistics and inventory management, ensuring efficient operations across all future locations.

Recruitment is already underway for store and warehouse positions, with the company emphasizing a collaborative and agile culture.

Peavey Mart’s roots date back to 1967, with a legacy of serving rural communities with hardware, agricultural supplies, and more. The 2025 relaunch promises to uphold that tradition while embracing modern retail strategies and customer service excellence.

A large component of the ownership group’s mandate is to create an agile culture where store, office, and distribution teams work collaboratively, says the Peavy Mart website. The reborn icon says it wants to ensure the company can pivot as necessary to support both customer needs and continued profitable operations for many years to come.

As the fall opening approaches, excitement is building among longtime customers and rural communities eager to see Peavey Mart back in action.
