A farm bill decision program will take place Jan. 30 in Kaufman to help growers navigate decisions to be made under the 2014 bill, according to Ralph Davis, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service agent in Kaufman County.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m., and the program will be from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Kaufman County Fairgrounds Building, 4001 South Washington, Kaufman. It is free and open to the public.

“I am extremely pleased to have Dr. Joe Outlaw as a presenter to help our producers make these crucial farm decisions,” Davis said. “He will assist farmers in understanding how the new farm bill impacts them and offer guidance on using the web-based decision aid tool, so they can make informed decisions that will impact their farms.”

Outlaw is co-director of the Agricultural and Food Policy Center in the department of agricultural economics at Texas A&M University and AgriLife Extension economist.

John Reeves, U.S. Department of Agriculture-Farm Service Agency representative, will also speak regarding the financial assistance available to farmers under the 2014 farm bill, Davis said.
