Ethanol Prices on the Rise

DES MOINES – Wholesale ethanol prices were up $.12 this week, closing at $2.32.

Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $1.41 per barrel over last week, currently at $102.73.

Brent crude oil fell $.79 this week, currently at $109.81.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $95.01 and Brent crude was at $103.77.

Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, May 27th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.47 across Iowa according to AAA.  This is up a penny from last week and down $.45 from one year ago.  The national average on Tuesday was $3.65, up a penny from last week’s price.

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were down a penny on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $3.80.   One year ago diesel prices averaged $3.78 in Iowa.   The current Iowa diesel average is $.12 per gallon lower than the national average of $3.92.

Wholesale ethanol prices rose $.12 this week, closing at $2.32. The price of Mid-Grade Blend in Iowa (10% ethanol) closed at $3.42 per gallon, up $.02 from last week’s price and down $.41 from one year ago.

Heating Fuels
Natural Gas prices in Iowa were down $.11 from last week’s report, ending the week at $4.43 / MMbtu.
