Four Rural Communities in Alberta and Saskatchewan to Share $100,000

UFA Agricultural Community Foundation Announces Rural Community Grant Recipients

The UFA Co-operative Ltd. (UFA) has officially announced the recipients of its inaugural Rural Communities Grant Program, distributing a total of $100,000 to support essential projects in four rural communities across Alberta and Saskatchewan.

The selected organizations include:

• Kneehill Historical Society, Three Hills, Alta. – Awarded $15,000 to establish a UFA Theatre and Seminar Room aimed at enhancing local cultural and educational activities.
• Rimbey Agricultural Society, Rimbey, Alta. – Granted $30,000 for an upgraded kitchen project, which will support events and gatherings in the community.
• Weyburn Agricultural Society, Weyburn, Sask. – Received $25,000 to assist with critical repairs to their Exhibition Hall, ensuring the venue remains a hub for local events.
• Wrentham Community Centre, Wrentham, Alta. – Secured $30,000 towards the revitalization of their curling rink, promoting recreational activities in the region.

The grant program, which opened for applications from June 14 to August 31, 2024, encouraged communities to submit proposals ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 for capital projects that enrich recreational, educational, and cultural facilities within agricultural communities.

The response to UFA's first Rural Communities Grant Program was overwhelming according to the group. UFA received numerous applications showcasing the dedication and creativity of rural communities.

Each project selected reflects UFA's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those living and working in these areas. This grant program builds upon the legacy of the former UFA Rural Communities Foundation, which successfully funded twenty community projects in Alberta.
