Dry Conditions Alarming For Producers Seeding Canola

May 09, 2016
The good weather this week has meant farmers have made some good progress getting this year’s crop in the ground.

This year a large number of acres are going into pulses, especially lentil acres.

Warren Ward is an Agronomy Specialist with the Canola Council of Canada says for producers looking at seeding Canola, the dry conditions have been a bit of a concern.

"Last year I noticed the extremely shallow seeded crops didn't always do as well as the seeds that were seeded deeper. We're talking about a very narrow range, maybe an inch depth for that seed."
