OTTAWA,– Manitoba dairy farmer David Wiens was re-elected to a second two-year term as President of Dairy Farmers of Canada at the organization’s Annual General Meeting in Toronto on Wednesday.
“Representing Canada’s dairy farmers is an immense privilege, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue in this role,” he said. “I’m proud to stand alongside Canada’s dairy farmers – united across every province – to advocate for our sector as we deliver the high-quality milk Canadians count on.”
First elected in 2023, Mr. Wiens is a third-generation dairy farmer from Grunthal, Manitoba, where he milks about 240 cows and cultivates 1,500 acres with his brother.
Mr. Wiens brings extensive leadership to his role, having long served as a DFC board member, as well as Chair of the Dairy Farmers of Manitoba. In these roles, David has brought his expertise as a farmer to files including dairy promotion, proAction, research, animal care and advocacy.
