Statistics Canada released the final production estimates for 2016 earlier this month. This report highlighted seeded, harvested area, yield and production estimates for provinces across Canada. The crop production estimates for Alberta were generated from a survey of 7,068 Alberta farmers conducted by Statistics Canada, from October 21 to November 13, 2016. With all the numbers we’re joined on the line by Ashan Shooshtarian, crop statistician with Alberta Agriculture.
