The Farms.com and AgCareers.com teams are attending the National FFA Convention this week in Louisville, Kentucky.
Here are some of the highlights of the week and convention.
The 86th National FFA Convention opened Wednesday to a packed Kentucky Exposition Center arena. The convention, with the theme Ignite, began its first year of three in Louisville. Attendance, already at more than 52,000 when the first general session got underway, is expected to be 56,000. The first session opened with words familiar to those who have attended national, state, or even local chapter FFA meetings: “FFA members, why are we here?” It’s part of the opening ceremony of FFA meetings.
Later in the session, Reid Bigland, president and CEO of Ram Trucks, and country music artist and former FFA member Easton Corbin presented the FFA with a $1 million check. The presentation followed a replaying of the stirring video featuring the late broadcaster Paul Harvey’s “So God Made a Farmer”.
