With the larger acreage for Ontario – the top winter wheat production province – national winter wheat seeded area in the fall amounts to 1.687 million acres, a 15% increase from the 1.466 million acres planted in the fall for harvest in 2024.
Manitoba fall seeded winter wheat area for 2025 is estimated at 39,800 acres, down from 42,800 a year earlier, while Saskatchewan producers planted 130,200 acres, compared to 102,200 the previous year. Alberta fall planted winter wheat for harvest in 2025 is estimated at 200,800 acres, up from 189,300 last year.
